MIMO DFRC Signal Design in Signal-Dependent Clutter

This paper deals with the Dual-Function Radar and Communication (DFRC) signal design for a Multiple-Input–Multiple-Output (MIMO) system, considering presence of signal-dependent clutter. A modulation methodology called Spectral Position Index Amplitude (SPIA) is proposed, which involves selecting passband stopband positions applying amplitude modulation. Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) maximized enhance radar detectability. Meanwhile, variable modulus communication constraints are enforced ensure compatibility current hardware techniques demand, respectively. In addition, mainlobe width sidelobe level used concentrate energy in specific area space enforced. To tackle resulting nonconvex NP-hard optimization problem, an Iterative Block Enhancement (IBE) framework that alternately updates each emitting antenna exploited monotonically increase SINR.
